Middlesbrough Council ends year £500k in the black

MIDDLESBROUGH Council ended the last financial year £500,000 in the black.
The council’s deputy mayor and Cabinet member for resources,
Councillor Dave Budd, said the authority finished 2011-12 in a strong and positive financial position.
Cllr Budd reported to a meeting of the council’s Executive:
“The final outturn position for 2011-12 is a net budget saving of £506,000.
This represents a 0.37% saving against the £136.508m 2011-012 budget.”
He said there had been a huge improvement in the council’s financial position in the last quarter of the financial year.
“Lots of individual actions contributed to that improvement.
