Lord Prescott and his staff spent hundreds of pounds at an Australian casino using a taxpayer-funded credit card, it has emerged.
The former deputy prime minister’s private office spent £456 at the Star City casino in Sydney, more than £490 at Doyles seafood restaurant in nearby Watson’s Bay, and £75 at a local aquarium.
The information was released by the Department for Communities and Local Government - the body that replaced Lord Prescott’s office.
The Labour peer visited Australia in November 2004 to study the effects of relaxation of casino laws.
