Gazette Letters Page
Just heard a whisper that no letters are published now unless the sender's name is published. Comments folks please?

I agree with their decision actually. They should not allow anyone a letter unless they are on the electoral register either. Some letter writers are very critical of another individual, therefore their names should not be witheld.

Hi Isthatso,
Probably the same crowd that made sure a poster on the forum, was blocked from posting more information (exposure variety)!
Though as I said, No probs stating say... AN.Other and area .. say Acklam
They won't post your full address if you request them not to!

getting ready for next May in true Pravda style
Next thing, letters posted from the likes of Independents will be "edited" for any reason that can be thought up, letters from Labour Cllrs, MP's, Mayor, fanboys, hangers on, apologists and droogs etc etc will of course be printed in full and as frequently as they can be bothered to send them.

Hi Deckard,
The banning routine on another forum, smacks of exactly that, prior to the run up to May!
Even when facts are posted, along with evidence, that still warrants a ban!
A type of (Ethnic) honest and factual posting cleansing.... clearing the way for a pre May frenzy against Labour opposition!
No surprises there then.
Any one with a failed EG letter post, I take it, can post it here! Verbatim!
I think this might well turn out to be a healthy forum.

Hi Alexander,
Purvis.... smoke and mirrors... see the CCTV stuff in the EG letters. In there, claiming all the glory, after Cox had done all the graft!

Re: Gazette Letters Page
Like Tosha, I dont know the Carter-Bonsteels personally, so I can only comment on what the Gazette serves up to us.
Over the years Ron and Viv have stood up to the 'thugs n drugs' element of their local community and put themselves in the firing line for anti-social behaviour in the process.
Originally, they were unsupported by the local authority, until they started to write to the Gazette, who took up their cause. This, in turn, led to a u-turn in the local council mindset, and assistance through neighbourhood policing, etc was deployed to support them.
I feel that, while I would personally support them in their stand against the bad elements of their community, they now have a symbiotic relationship with the Gazette letters page. Often, their letters make pertinent points about the state of society but sometimes, IMO, their letters are simperingly supportive of MBC. I suspect that they realise that, in order to keep their neighbourhood campaign in the spotlight, they need to keep up their public profile via the letters page in the local paper. That is, after all, how they first shamed the council into supporting them. They have come to realise that the easiest way to maintain this public profile nowadays, is to write letters that support MBC or agree with Mayor Mallons attacks on central government for chopping down his money-tree.

Re: Gazette Letters Page
Rockliffe Rover - they were given a lot of help from Cleveland Police as it is their job to handle this - not MBC. I saw an article in the Gazette with a photo of them with the C Constable outside their home. Mr C.B. was all set for standing as a cllr some years ago and was told by Mallon to join the Labour party. There are others in Mbro who suffer just as much as these people but they do not shout it from the roof tops. Why do they not seek the help of their MP or get the nationals involved - that would make the police move quick enough.
