Fear for thousands of jobs as council reveals India outsourcing plans

Union bosses have slammed a decision which will see council jobs
outsourced abroad for the first time in a drive to cut costs.
Birmingham City Council plans to move around 100 IT, human resources, payroll
and finance posts to India in a joint venture with outsourcing firm Capita.
The Unite union has criticised the plan saying they are concerned other councils will follow
Birmingham's lead meaning thousands of jobs could soon be lost.
