Middlesbrough: the narrowing route

Post by BoroBot »

New Bus Stop islands appearing along Linthorpe Road to thwart drivers wishing to visit Middlesbrough centre
join the rush (snails pace) traffic jams on the main route into BORO
sit in the queue behind the bus - ring the bell to procede
MBC - ding dong plan to Pedestrianise Linthorpe Road - make all vehicles stop at bus stops - how green is that?
MBC must hope car drivers will pick up passengers along the road negating the need for buses
next thing is MBC will do traffic survey - state traffic use of Linthorpe Road is minimal
so we might as well ban all traffic    ;) you couldn’t make it up
Welcome to the asylum -- welcome to Middlesbrough

Just how many more visions are Mayor Mallon and his council going to have?
Middlehaven - little progress after 20 years
Riverside Stadium development - wrong-ffoted by Redcar & Cleveland to protect their ASDA, so how come the Tesco site exists on the Trunk Road?
Teesside "Metro" - regurgitated at regular intervals with no progress
Marton Road traffic relief - no progress whatsoever, another victory for the Redcar folk that Councillor Coppinger works for
Gresham - Mallon's bombsite showing no progress
In short Mallon and his motley crew need to get real - or is their "vision" one of total dereliction of the Middlesbrough town centre?

There are shop units standing empty in the Hill Street Centre, The Cleveland Centre and all along Linthorpe Road.
The only new shop to open recently is a 99p shop in the Cleveland Centre.
Now Charlie Looney is talking about a 120 million pound development five minutes walk away from the existing town centre.
I know where the dead centre of the town will be.
The Supermarket wouldnt be Tesco by any chance.
