WORRYING figures from the National Housing Federation reveal a bleak picture of the North-east’s housing market.
The Homes Truths report shows there are currently 12,745 households across Teesside on social housing waiting lists because of the “broken housing market”.
High house prices and low incomes mean many can no longer afford to buy or rent - and instead turn to housing associations who build up long waiting lists.
But what can be done to address the desperate situation?
