I've written several times about the demolitions - firstly in regards to St Hildas and them in regards to my own circumstances.
The lack of information, the backtracking and changes, the outright lies.
People in the area will get a direct house swap - like for like. Dropped
No-one will be out of pocket - most certainly no longer the case
Then removal payments became "loans" - or some aspect of "part ownership", in any case some people most certainly will be out of pocket
Not a single plan for what comes after the demolition.
The statements that funding is in place - after nigh on six years the blatant untruth of those numerous statements is obvious to everyone except the EG.
The claim that funding was given by the government, but a plan needed to be submitted to get the funds, requests to see the plans were met with there are no plans finalised yet, then a story in the Eg that the funds were dependent on a more detailed plan being submitted, but I was told there was no finalised plan, so I asked to see the plan that was not detailed enough - and was told there wasn;t one. The left hand didn't know what the right hand was doing and the EG just towed the party/Mayoral line
The mystery of what will be built when the Gem streets area will be demoilished - the council apparently have no finalised plans and never have, they certainly have never been able to give anyone I know a statement of intent as to what will be built afterwards, yet in an application for a radio license from the government - a feted local retailer gives a short bio, included in it is claim of what he intends to build around a store, in the Gem streets area
From the application for a license for "TouchFM" - page 8. If anyone would like a copy of the full PDF - PM me
to transform a stretch of adjacent Garnet Street into an open café area with quality shops, bars and hairdressing salons that will bring European café culture to the city.
This in an application to the goverment, from a prospective director of a radio station applying for a licence...so what was the truth, no finalised plans or plans to build quality shops, bars and hairdressing salons that one chap claimed was so in a radio licence application ?. That they were not built is not the issue, that someone certainly with an ear to MBC, and I believe as a director of the Middlesbrpugh Town Centre Company most certainly claimed there was a plan for what wouod cme after demolition, yet the residents could never get any answer from the council.
Not once have I had a letter to the Editor published about any of these issues.
Though i did write a letter several years ago, praising Mallons work as mayor in championing the town - it was total bollocks and I made up a name and an address - an address that doesn;t actually exist, but it got past the vetting procedure and was published. Sums up the EG to me.
