Sir Stuart Bell MP for Middlesbrough stated something along the lines:
few if any MP's made dubious or excessive claims for expenses
yet we have the following -

Tory MP Andrew MacKay's political career is in ruins today after David Cameron ordered him to resign from the Commons over his expenses claims.
Mr MacKay, 59, who was one of the Tory leader's closest advisers, joined the growing toll of MPs forced out of Westminster after Mr Cameron phoned him to tell him that his position was untenable.
His fate was sealed by his disastrous attempt to defuse the crisis in a stormy public meeting with his Bracknell constituents on Friday evening. As he attempted to explain his claims, Mr MacKay was jeered and called a 'thieving toad'.
