Hi DoNowt,
Bit of info picked up out of the ether
Of the numerous Labour candidates hoping for a seat on this council here in Middlesbrough last week, including many Labour cllrs seeking re-election, only one had anything at his home on display, urging residents to support their Labour candidate for mayor.
Indeed, local resident, Mr Andy McDonald is chair of the local Labour Party Local Government Association, yet he also, did not have either a poster in his window, nor a placard in his front garden supporting his candidate - I wonder why?
This must beg the question - who were these Labour party members really supporting? Asking this, because when Mr Mallon our Independent was first elected in 2002, less than 48 hours after he was sworn in, there was an attended a party at the home of Mr McDonald to celebrate Mr Mallon's victory over their own Labour candidate.
This party was also attended by several current Labour councillors, some of whom were then chosen by Mr Mallon to be his executive councillors.
