Re: Middlesbrough Council Whistle Blowers News Section
How many readers would say that if a councillor parks their car in the Town Hall quadrange while they pop off to work elsewere for the day, every day, knowing that parking there is restricted for cllrs working in the Town Hall - is mis-use of council facilities? This was reported time and again but those in authority prefered to turn a blind eye to it. No Standards Board for that councillor - they were Labour you see and they got away with it for years. The husband of this cllr was on the Standards Board and dished out senteces to others.

Nice to see that guests can post without having to join.
Does this mean that their IP's cant be logged and discussed elsewhere within this forum?

Re: Middlesbrough Council Whistle Blowers News Section
What's the problem, Something to hide? Just curious. The whole idea of a whistle blower is just that, giving info without come back. Doing what you infer, would defeat the object and deter said whistle blowers. Get real.
Re: Middlesbrough Council Whistle Blowers News Section
Thanks for the honest answer Anth.
In view of previous threads on here discussing and even posting IP addresses of contributors en masse, (not a particular IP of a particular poster), I think its a valid question.
Why so defensive, Whistler?

Stuart Bell found the time to attend the Mela this weekend. Who organises this, by that I mean which section of the community? I ask this because they were singled out for his time and attention - as opposed to the residents who simply wanted answers to 3 questions put to him.

this is the new ward surgery for Stuart Bell MP for Middlesbrough
it's a once a year event instead of once in 16 year event

Ray Mallon chooses those cllrs for his exec positions who will not disagree with him - it's as simple as that.

Re: Middlesbrough Council Whistle Blowers News Section
Dont know what you mean.
If there was any hint that MBC or MLG favours the ethnic groups in town, then things with mass appeal like Middlesbrough Music Live (music and food in the town centre) would have cost £15 a go, while the MELA, an ethnicity orientated event (music and food in the park) would be free of charge.
Oh.

Re: Middlesbrough Council Whistle Blowers News Section
is MELA free of charge if so who pays to repair the damage to Albert Park Clairville Common Policing Road restrictions parking etc?
Re: Middlesbrough Council Whistle Blowers News Section
Mela, as far as I know, doesn't have an admission charge. Whether the food concessions are charged a fee, again I don't know. The idea of the MELA is to promote cultural diversity and I think the food is part of the overall idea, so I dont think there's a charge by the council, the price of the food to the public goes to the stallholder to cover costs. I think that all of the performers are paid. I know MBC gets grants for cultural diversity so these might help fund it. As for repairs, policing and so on, I'm guessing money for that comes from the council.
Re: Middlesbrough Council Whistle Blowers News Section
Talking with one of my Asian friends a few years back,he was moaning about the very expensive prices the stalls were charging for their goods at the Mela. They had shut the shop for the day,to take the whole family ( rarity, lol),so they were a bit peeved. He also told me that the Council's charge for the stalls/pitches were astronomical, but he also pointed out, that they still made shit loads of money (his words). It would be interesting to know what the covenant says about this and other functions held there. I was led to believe that the land was given to the people of Middlesbrough, for a park,so they could get away from the grime of industry, and relax. I would imagine there would be a number of stipulation's on the covenant.
Re: Middlesbrough Council Whistle Blowers News Section
Th Cleveland Show held in Stewart Park each year must make a lot of money for some people too . It's high time they used Pally Park (as we in the area refer to it as) for similar functions for those living in East Mbro.

Whistler posted a message directed to me about Stewart bells attendance at the MELA which was quite sarky in tone. I asked why I was being given this information as my post hadnt been about Bell. What I posted was about the £15 price tag for Mboro Music Live while the MELA is still free. Both posts seem to have been deleted but with no comment from the modmins.

I would just like to point out that i have no idea what you are talking about. Have you got the right poster? My today's post is still there and there is nothing in it about Bell.
Could the mods confirm this for me please?

Sorry Whistler,
My mistake, the poster was called William. I knew it started with a W and confused the two.

Re: Middlesbrough Council Whistle Blowers News Section
Labour councllor Bernie Taylor who lives in Acklam and represents Ayresome informed his fellow councillor (Independent Bill Hawthorne) that he never even opens any -mails from Bill nor any sent to him by Joan McTigue - that's working together Labour style.

Disagreements are fine, they will happen. This was getting to be a continuation of another squabble by other means carried on from the other place which ruined good topics of discussion - exactly the topics the MLG wanted gone. Best nip it in the bud.
Cockburn,
In order for you to ascertain that myself and William are 'carrying on a personal spat from another place', I take it then that:
a) the IP addresses of posters on this thread are being harvested and monitored.
b) that IP addresses of posters on this thread are also being compared to other IP addresses of registered posters historically harvested.
For that reason, I would recommend that any Town Hall 'whistleblowers' think long and hard before committing themselves to posting on this thread or this forum.
That's me 'over and out', my curiosity is satisfied!

Re: Middlesbrough Council Whistle Blowers News Section
I think the only way this part of the forum will work,is if the mods delete anything posted in this section that has nothing to do with whistleblowing, probably including this post. It started off OK,until the obvious ex EG trouble causers stepped in. I see there was a poster earlier, trying just that, but was deleted by the mods. Reaper i think the name was, nice try OH Grim one. The only other person who IMO is just scaremongering is curious, who has nothing to offer on whistleblowing. So much for your over and out,my curiosity is satisfied,on Wednesday, you'll be having more comebacks that VFT from the EG.
To me,this forum is like many others. It welcomes anyone who has a opinion and want to debate. What it does not want IMO is the small minority of Labour Councillors and trolls who got away with disruption day after day until the genuine decent posters left.
I think in most cases when posts show the true colours of certain Councillors, and facts about what goes on within MBC,they have no answer or debate to any of it,so they resort to disruption. That's how i see it and i think others do as well.

My threads were nothing to do with disruption.,they were an opinion of how this site is run. I didn't expect them to be allowed to stand, and I was right.
It's a bit strange how you make a suggestion and Shazzam!!, the 'mods' act on it with scurrying haste. You must be well-in with the admin (rolls eyes).

Re: Middlesbrough Council Whistle Blowers News Section
And my return was to answer certain posts made after I had said that my curiosity regarding this forum had been sated.
You know, the suggestions that I work for MBC and the like.
nothing to do with scaremongering or whhistle blowing but as a guest, am I able to start threads in this part of the forum to specifically air my concerns? When I aired my concern about the concept of an area where guests can post, this was the only thread in that area of the forum. As such, my concerns were apt to the thred, though restricted to whistleblowing only to serve as a warning to others to exercise caution before they do so.
Is that so bad?

Re: Middlesbrough Council Whistle Blowers News Section
so, in effect, the modmins will decide if you are off-topic, they will restrict you from discussing anything other than 'whistleblowing' (like previous jobs, perhaps?) in this section.
If you want the right to reply, then you'd better register. Which sort of negates the purpose of a registration-free thread.

Re: Middlesbrough Council Whistle Blowers News Section
With reference to my last post. Have I got this right?
From the quote by Darkstar:
"All posts and topics in this section will be deleted if they are not specific to the section title."
The whistleblowers thread is called "Middlesbrough Council Whistle Blowers News Section"
Is it the thread that Darkstar is trying to protect, or is the message that other subjects will not be tolerated on this 'guest-enabled' section?
So, if I started another thread to take this discussion away from the whistleblowers thread, it would be deleted for not being about whistleblowing? Hence my statement that, if you want the right of reply, you need to register.

Re: Middlesbrough Council Whistle Blowers News Section
I see I now have my own section - the 'curious' section, which bumps people back to the T&C's, etc.
This is how posters are treated? This is moderation? Singled out for sarky little swipes by the people in charge?
You're not selling this forum to potential members.
Tosha assures us that the 'previous jobs' thread will eventually be about whistleblowing, so maybe the person responsible can set up a new discussion thread to carry this topic on in the guest enabled area, on the proviso that it too will eventually become about whistleblowing?
In the meantime, I'll leave you all to blow your own whistles. Mind you dont get a stiff neck.

Re: Middlesbrough Council Whistle Blowers News Section
Rumour has it that Judith Hedgely (senior manager in Licensing MBC) about whom Mallon made those disgraceful comments to Boro Taxis boss, has submitted a formal complaint to Standards about Mallon. The lady has not been at work since the comments were made public in the press. Will Mallon stay here for the full 4 years of office - some say not.

So are we to believe that the MBC rules on whistleblowing are identical to those of the rules on this Forum? I happen to believe (& may others do too) that the number of complaints made against a certain cllr are arranged - is that not corruption? There are 2-3 each month. Since it costs a lot of public money to investigate them - most of which are thrown out - is that not a waste of public money?
However, shall take my info elsewhere in future. This Forum is akin now to the EG foum.
