In an 11-month period from last May, Teesside’s five MPs claimed a total of £156,723. The highest was Redcar Liberal Democrat MP Ian Swales who claimed £45,415. Mr Blenkinsop came lowest with less than half that - £19,589.
Conservative MP for Stockton South James Wharton claimed £35,701 and Labour MP for Stockton North Alex Cunningham claimed £32,744.
Labour MP for Middlesbrough Sir Stuart Bell claimed £23,271.

MORE MPs have come forward to criticise Teesside Coroner Michael Sheffield for keeping bereaved families waiting for inquests. The coroner’s office has a larger backlog of cases now than it did when Mr Sheffield survived a high profile campaign for him to step down nearly a decade ago. Mr Sheffield, now 81, presides over a waiting list of more than 10 months per case - far above the national average and in excess of the recommended maximum of six months.
