Osama Bin Laden dead.

Post by isthatso »

Well that's good news to get up to. Bin laden shot and killed in Pakistan. So much for security in Pakistan, where he has been living in a compound for some time. The Americans have buried him at sea, which is a good move,as there will be no shrine to the man. Good riddance to a very evil murdering bxxxxxx.
Foreign office advises overseas Britons to be vigilant. Will this bring more terrorism to the west?

Hi Isthatso,
Will this bring more terrorism to the west?
More than likely, it's a big blow in propaganda terms, so I would imagine, they will have to make a point or more in order to balance the books.
Restore face sort of thing. As usual they won't mind who is in the firing line if, as, when they decide to do it.
That in itself however will be counter productive IMO, as it only hardens resolve to hunt down even more of these cowards.

Time alone now will tell. Great result, though a time in coming, glad he was shot rather than dying of old age or something, buried at sea I think too was a good move.

..................buried at sea I think too was a good move.
There are two angles to that, Tosha.

One the one hand it prevents any positive ID (DNA test etc) so we only have the Yanks' word for his death. The conspiracy theorists are already suggesting that it didn't really happen and this is just US propaganda. Any bets on a tape recording of Osama on al Jazeera any time soon claiming to be still alive?

On the other hand if they have got the bastard then chucking him in the sea was a good idea because it will prevent there being any sort of shrine or whatever.

Hi JR,
There are two angles to that, Tosha.
I'm with you on that comment.
Wonder what actual proof the Yanks will provide (of the concrete variety)? as to either angle. ;)

Or maybe the Yanks didn't want to be outshone by the Friday and weekend wedding material>

Apparently, according to the news he was identified at the scene by one of his wives. Also DNA taken from his body matches DNA from members of his family. They would also have taken many pictures and video,i imagine. The way they found him,was by following his courier to his compound. This was a couple of years back apparently. They then stopped using those surveillance drone things, and used a more low key surveillance, which give Bin laden a false sense of security. Then when the time was right,BOOOM,Bingo. :P

Update. Bin Laden tape, recorded just before his death, expected to surface soon.
Also Bin Laden burial was recorded on film, and will probably be publicly released soon.

Thanks, ITS. According to latest reports the raid and the shooting was all recorded on one of the commando's headcams.

I wish we saw more quotes like this (from the BBC):
Farooq Murad, the secretary general of the Muslim Council of Britain, said few would mourn the death of Bin Laden, "least of all Muslims".

"Many Muslims will reflect on the 10 years that have passed in which our faith and our community have been seen through the prism of terrorism and security.

"His extremism has been responsible for the deaths of many people, including many Muslims around the world."

Next headline on the 'We Hate Mallon' conspiracy theory forum...

"Mallon has Osama Bin Laden Killed by US Intelligence Forces in Order to Detract Attention of Local Paper Away from Release of more Recorded Conversations."

Hi RR

According to what the Pimpernel thinks and has said about him, he wouldn't be bright enough to come up with something like that.

US 'Intelligence' claims that the following was evidence that the compound in Islamabad was being used to hide Osama bin Laden:

The compound had 12'-18' high walls / fences.
The compound had no phone line.
The compound had no internet access.
The occupants burned their ownn rubbish.

Congratulations, President Obama, you've just destroyed someones allotment...

US forces codename for Osama bin Laden was...

...geronimo!

I can't think why. One is a mad, despotic dictator, with followers that hang on their every word, hell bent on bringing down the establishment.

The other was Osama bin Laden!

Hindsight and simplicity =100% I'm sure if they had been certain sooner, it might have happened sooner, mind there were complications ;)

BTW, I know why I was banned from the EG. Same reason as you. I told the truth. But that's for another thread.

More ObL funnies:

Osama bin Laden has appeared on Al Jazeera in a video, proclaiming that he is still alive and to prove it, declares that Boro are complete rubbish this year. Experts say it could have been recorded any time in the last five years!

Apparently, Osama sealed his own fate when he signed up for Playstation Network!
